On November 20, Monica McCormick, Program Officer for Digital Scholarly Publishing at New York University, will join us to discuss how university presses are thinking about the transition to digital book publishing, the goals of this project and the history behind the grant award, the scope of the initiative, what collaborators will contribute, and how the survey for library customer input is coming together.

In the past few years, the concern for access to research has gained much-needed attention at the highest levels of higher education administration. In increasing numbers, administrators are going on record in support of wider access to research and policies that ensure public access to especially publicly funded research. A growing number of campuses – public and private – are also adopting open-access policies for individual schools if not for whole institutions. There are now no fewer than 41 institutional mandatory open-access policies worldwide, with the most recent being adopted at University College London.
